PROBLEM

ArcGIS Server fails to start when running on some RHEL 6 machines

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

A globe service sometimes fails to publish to ArcGIS for Server when running on some Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL) machines. It works on other RHEL 6 machines.

Cause

Globe services require that the X virtual framebuffer (Xvfb) on RHEL 6 machines be installed to work properly. If the RHEL 6 machine does not have the native Xvfb installed, it may have problems with publishing globe services.

Solution or Workaround

Install the Xvfb package on the RHEL 6 machine where ArcGIS for Server is running, and restart the machine.
