BUG

ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS and .NET (Xamarin.iOS) 3D Crashes

Last Published: April 13, 2022

Description

Esri has identified that 3D applications that use the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS and the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for .NET (targeting iOS with Xamarin.iOS) crash or freeze on iOS 15.4 and 15.4.1. Apps crash or freeze when a 3D scene is displayed or interacted with.

The issue impacts recent iPhones and iPads with A14, A15, or M1 processors.

This has been resolved with the release of ArcGIS Runtime SDK 100.13.2 (iOS and .NET).

Workaround

Customers using iPhones or iPads in the list below that upgrade to iOS 15.4 or 15.4.1 will not be able to use 3D apps that use the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS or the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for .NET (Xamarin.iOS). This includes Site Scan for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Earth as well as customer apps. 2D apps are not impacted.

Affected devices are:

  • iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 12 Mini (2020, A14 Bionic)
  • iPhone 13, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 13 Mini (2021, A15 Bionic)
  • iPhone SE 3rd Gen (2022, A15 Bionic)
  • iPad Air 4th Generation (2020, A14 Bionic)
  • iPad Air 5th Generation (2022, M1)
  • iPad Pro 11" 3rd Generation (2021, M1)
  • iPad Pro 12.9" 5th Generation (2021, M1)
  • iPad Mini 6th Generation (2021, A15 Bionic)

This has been resolved with the 100.13.2 release for those SDKs. Customers are advised to follow the instructions in the blog: ArcGIS Runtime SDK 100.13.2 (iOS and .NET) now available.
