Error Message
After downloading and attempting to load an add-in in ArcGIS Pro, such as those provided through ArcGIS Solutions, the add-in may not appear or be accessible as expected.
In some cases, the add-in installs successfully but the associated ribbon tab, tools, or functionality are not visible within the application interface. As a result, users are unable to access or use the add-in even though the file has been downloaded.
Cause
This issue may occur due to one or more of the following:
- The downloaded .esriAddInX file is blocked by Windows security settings.
- The add-in was not installed correctly.
- The installed add-in version is not compatible with the current version of ArcGIS Pro.
- The add-in is installed but not enabled in the Add-In Manager.
- The add-in file is corrupted or incomplete due to a failed download.
Solution or Workaround
To resolve the issue, verify the following:
Unblock the downloaded add-in file
- Locate the downloaded .esriAddInX file.
- Right-click the file and select Properties.
- In the General tab, check for a Security section.
- If present, select Unblock.
- Click Apply, then OK.
- Double-click the .esriAddInX file to install the add-in.
Install the add-in
- Double-click the .esriAddInX file.
- When prompted, confirm the add-in installation.
- Restart ArcGIS Pro if it is currently open.
Verify the add-in in Add-In Manager
- Open ArcGIS Pro.
- Click the Project tab.
- Select Add-In Manager.
- Verify that the add-in appears in the list and is enabled.
Confirm version compatibility
- Ensure the add-in version is compatible with the installed version of ArcGIS Pro. Add-ins developed for earlier or later versions may fail to load.
- If necessary, download the latest supported version from the source where the add-in was obtained, such as ArcGIS Solutions.
Re-download the add-in
If the issue persists, delete the existing .esriAddInX file and download the add-in again from the official source. After downloading, repeat the installation steps.
