PROBLEM

ArcGIS Pro 3.3 crashes when a new project is created with an active language pack from ArcGIS Pro 3.2

Last Published: May 7, 2024

Description

ArcGIS Pro 3.3 crashes when a new project is created with a map while an existing install of an ArcGIS Pro 3.2 language pack is installed. The first indication of the impending crash is a warning window that pops up to notify the user that the language pack is not compatible with the current version of ArcGIS Pro, as shown in the image below. After that, the program crashes if the user creates a new project with a map. Subsequent launches of ArcGIS Pro will not crash after the first instance unless the user manually changes the language pack again to ArcGIS Pro 3.2 language packs—this should be avoided.

Solution or Workaround

There are several options to prevent this crash.

  • Uninstall existing ArcGIS Pro 3.2 language packs.
  • Continue using ArcGIS Pro 3.3 without activating any 3.2 language packs (i.e., using it in English).
  • Uninstall existing ArcGIS Pro 3.2 language packs and install ArcGIS Pro 3.3 language packs. ArcGIS Pro 3.3 language packs are anticipated to be available in June 2024.
