ArcGIS Online wants to Look for and connect to any device on your local network

Error Message

When accessing applications in ArcGIS Online using Google Chrome, Chrome will display a warning that arcgis.com, or the application being used, wants to "Look for and connect to any device on your local network". This warning provides options to block or allow the requests. If Block is clicked, services in the application will fail to load.

Cause

This warning is caused by any request that is considered a local network request. These are defined by the Chrome browser as any request from the public network to a local network or loopback destination. Services, such as feature services or geoprocessing services, hosted on a local or company network can trigger this warning if the ArcGIS Online web application is accessed from the same network.

Solution or Workaround

Click Allow in the pop up to allow access to the local services in the application.
