ArcGIS for SharePoint app fails silently when MFA is enforced in ArcGIS Online

Description

The ArcGIS for SharePoint app fails silently and doesn’t gracefully sign out the user from their ArcGIS Online account when Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) is enforced while the user is signed in to the app using the ArcGIS Online account. 

Cause

When the user is signed in to ArcGIS for SharePoint using an ArcGIS Online account and if the ArcGIS Online org admin enforces MFA.

Solution or Workaround

The user will automatically lose access to items in 'My content', 'My favorites', 'My organization' and ArcGIS Online services such as geocoding and GeoEnrichment when the ArcGIS Online org admin enforces MFA. The user will still see 'My content', 'My favorites', 'My organization' in the ArcGIS Online drop-down, but when trying to access any of those folders, an error message is returned (app failing silently) .

Once the browser is refreshed, these folders are no longer visible in the ArcGIS Online drop-down. After completing the MFA process, the user can sign in and use the ArcGIS for SharePoint app without any issues.
