ArcGIS Enterprise User Type Entitlement Changes

Last Published: April 1, 2025

Description

ArcGIS Enterprise Standard and ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced editions include entitlements of Viewer and Creator user type licenses. As of April 7, 2025, the included entitlements of Viewer and Creator user types will be updated for any purchases of new ArcGIS Enterprise Standard and ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced editions. ArcGIS Enterprise Standard now includes 5 Creators and 250 Viewers. ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced now includes 25 Creators and 500 Viewers. This change does not impact existing purchases of ArcGIS Enterprise Standard and Advanced editions, nor does it impact customers who stay current on maintenance for their existing purchases. Customers who purchase ArcGIS Enterprise via special programs such as those for education, non-profits, or enterprise agreements may have different entitlements based on the particulars of those individual programs or contracts.

Recommendation

To support this user type entitlement change, you will see a new experience in your organization’s My Esri account to guide you to the right entitlements. If your organization has purchased ArcGIS Enterprise licenses both before and after April 7, 2025, you will see a pop-up when provisioning licenses from My Esri.

This pop-up asks if the ArcGIS Enterprise deployment that you are licensing will use the legacy entitlements from before April 7, 2025 or licenses and entitlements from after this date. It is important to select the right licenses for your deployments to stay in accordance with the terms of your purchases and the software.

To access your legacy Viewer and Creator user type entitlements, for ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or Advanced editions purchased before April 7, 2025, select the “Legacy Entitlements” option. Please note, these legacy entitlements will continue to be available and functional for future releases as long as you stay current on maintenance for the ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or Advanced edition you have purchased.

To access your new entitlements, for ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or Advanced editions purchased after April 7, 2025, select the “New Entitlements” option. This option will bring you to ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or Advanced license purchases that include the updated user type entitlements.

Please note, the user types for these separate entitlements cannot be combined between different licenses. Additionally, if you purchase multiple ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced editions after April 7, 2025, the Creator and Viewer user type entitlements cannot be combined between the different purchases. Viewer and Creator user types, as well as all other user types, can be purchased at any time to add on to any of these entitlements, but user types that were included with the initial ArcGIS Enterprise purchase cannot be mixed between different purchases or editions.

If you have questions about your purchases and user type entitlements, reach out to your Esri representative.
