ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro defaults to ArcMap routing dataset

Description

When installing the Esri Business Analyst 2023 US Data and the ArcMap Compatibility Pack, the routing service defaults to the ArcMap Compatibility Pack network dataset. For ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro users this results in slower network calculations, such as creating drive times and assigning customers to stores.

Cause

• Esri Business Analyst 2023 US Data must be installed prior to the ArcMap Compatibility Pack. This install order causes the ArcMap routing service to become the default routing service for ArcGIS Pro.
• The ArcMap Compatibility Pack network dataset is FGDB-based format, which has slower performance than the Mobile Geodatabase format optimized for ArcGIS Pro. The default ArcMap Compatibility Pack network dataset location is installed in the following location:

C:\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\US_2023\Data\Streets Data\NorthAmerica.gdb\Routing\Routing_ND

Solution or Workaround

Reset the default network dataset for ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro use

ArcGIS Pro users can switch their network dataset to the main.Routing_ND for faster processing. To do this, do the following:

1. Open the ArcGIS Pro project.
2. Reset the network data source.
   1. From the Analysis tab, select Environments.
   2. Locate the Business Analyst section. In Network Source, navigate to the location where your US data is installed. For example:

C:\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\US_2023\Data\StreetMap Premium Data\northamerica.geodatabase\main.Routing

3. Select main.Routing_ND, and click OK.

Perform analysis in ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro

This issue only happens when ArcMap Compatibility Pack files are installed on a machine. ArcMap Compatibility Pack files are not required to perform analysis in ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro. ArcGIS Pro supports the latest routing technology and file formats and is the recommended application for Business Analyst users.
