ArcCatalog loses focus and freezes when opening the metadata editor

Description

When opening the metadata editor, ArcCatalog seems to lose focus and freezes.

Cause

The metadata editor may have opened off the viewable screen.

▪ In ArcGIS 10, this should only be a potential problem when using the FGDC Metadata Editor add-in.

Solution or Workaround

1. To verify that the editor window has opened off screen, press Alt+F4 on the keyboard. If a confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes.
   
2. Launch the metadata editor again. This time, press Shift+Alt+Spacebar, then the letter 'M'. Use the arrow keys until the editor window appears back on screen, then press Enter.
