ERROR

Arc not written due to zero length

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Solution or Workaround

When trying to ADD an arc or a portion of an arc, the following error message
is returned:

Arc not written out due to zero length

Cause:

This is usually because the length of the arc being added is smaller than the
NODESNAP, WEED, GRAIN or FUZZY tolerances.

Answer:

In ArcEdit 'STATUS TOLERANCE' can be used to check the NODESNAP, WEED and GRAIN tolerances. At the ARC prompt 'TOLERANCE LIST' will show NODESNAP, WEED,GRAIN and FUZZY tolerances

To change tolerances:
ARCEDIT: NODESNAP {DEFAULT | * | distance}
ARCEDIT: WEEDTOLERANCE {* | DEFAULT | distance}
ARCEDIT: GRAIN {* | DEFAULT | distance}
or
ARC: TOLERANCE NODESNAP {tol_value}
ARC: TOLERANCE WEED {tol_value}
ARC: TOLERANCE GRAIN {tol_value}
ARC: TOLERANCE FUZZY {tol_value}
