Get the Analysis tab to appear in ArcGIS Online

Summary

When a user is new to ArcGIS Online and they have not created their own hosted feature layer yet, the Analysis tab will not appear in the Settings (light) toolbar. This article describes the workflow to enable the Analysis tab. 

Procedure

Create a blank hosted feature layer

1. Go to the Contents tab in ArcGIS Online.
2. Select New Item.
3. Select Feature Layer and then Define your own layer.
4. Leave the next page as is.
5. Rename the layer as desired and click Save.
6. The blank hosted feature layer should now appear in the Content tab under My Content.

Create test data

1. Open the hosted feature layer in Map Viewer.
2. In the Settings (light) toolbar, click Edit and New Feature.
3. Click anywhere on the map to place a point and then click Create.
4. Save the map.
5. The Analysis tab should now appear in the Settings (light) toolbar.
