HOW TO
The 3.7 release of ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro includes a new geoprocessing tool, Generate Customer Demographic Profile Report, that uses a default template that is not included in the U.S. local data releases for 2025 and earlier.
This template was specifically designed for use in the Generate Customer Demographic Profile Report geoprocessing tool. It will be included in future releases of the U.S. local data files, starting in 2026.
Below are the report templates and instructions for installing the default templates in a local dataset.
For users that uncheck “show segment names” in the Options menu for ArcGIS Pro (under Business Analyst) the “Generic” report template will be used by the tool and will only show ArcGIS Tapestry segment IDs and not the full segment name.
Follow the steps for connected or installed local datasets. It is important to understand which steps you need to follow depending on how you use the local data.
Connected datasets are datasets that were not installed using the Windows Installer; instead, the user has connected to the dataset_description.xml file. If the dataset is installed, it will appear in grey in the Business Analyst Options window (Project tab, Options, under Application, and then Business Analyst). The image below shows that the USA and CAN local datasets are installed (shown in grey), and the USA 2024 data is connected.

For connected datasets, use the following instructions.
For installed datasets, use the following instructions. Installed datasets are local data installed using the Windows Installer and will no longer be supported with the 2026 local datasets.
After following the appropriate steps, the default Customer Demographic Report template should now be available to use in the Generate Customer Demographic Profile Report geoprocessing tool, and available as a report output option in the Target Marketing wizard.
