  1. [surveying,measurement] A point whose location is determined by a tie survey.

  2. [photogrammetry] A point in a digital image or aerial photograph that represents the same location in an adjacent image or aerial photograph. Usually expressed as a pair, tie points can be used to link images and create mosaics.
