URL copied Share URL
  1. [visualization techniques] A rendering technique that simulates illumination from an observer point to a surface. In visibility analysis (such as a line of sight or a viewshed), ray tracing is used to identify areas on a 3D surface that may be occluded or shadowed. In imagery, ray tracing is used to improve photo-realism using calibrated reflections, refractions, and shadows.
