A camera setting most commonly used with UAS (or drones) that describes the camera's tilt relative to the ground (or a surface). For example, a gimbal angle of 0 degrees (nadir) points the camera directly at the surface, which is typically used for orthomosaics. A gimbal angle of 35–40 degrees captures vertical facades and the ground simultaneously, which is typically used for crosshatch surveys, 3D models, or other oblique imagery. A gimbal angle of 90 degrees points the camera straight ahead, capturing the horizon.
