An abbreviation of Aeronautical Information Exchange Format. A model and XML schema used to describe aeronautical data transactions created and maintained by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), and the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).
