Adams square II projection

URL copied Share URL
  1. [map projections] A conformal map projection that displays the earth within a 2D square, with the poles at opposite corners and the equator and central meridian as transecting diagonal lines. Other meridians and the parallels are complex curves, with the parallels becoming concave toward the poles, where distortion is most pronounced. The Adams square II projection can be seamlessly tessellated or mosaicked. It has been used to create unique world maps and oceanographic charts, such as the Spilhaus map.
