absolute relief mapping method

  1. [map design] A mapmaking technique that shows numeric elevation data using information such as elevation points, contour lines, and shading to accurately portray terrain height. An absolute relief map is distinct from a relative relief map, which may emphasize or exaggerate the differences between an area's high and low elevations.
