This was implemented at 11.4 and in ArcGIS Online Q4 2024Alternate Workflow
Since Subtype Group Layers are not yet supported as a data source in Experience Builder, follow these steps to strip out the SGLs from the web map:
- Add your branch versioned feature service to a new Map in ArcGIS Pro and organize its layers using regular Group Layers instead of Subtype Group Layers.
- Publish the web map with Group Layers to your Portal and use the web map in the ArcGIS Experience Builder web app.
- The map is now updated in the web app when the versions are changed as expected.
