Additional Information
ArcGIS Pro is behaving as designed in the scenario described. In the Preview data help topic, it is documented that 'Maps are displayed as authored.': https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/projects/preview-data.htm. When exploring the contents of the map, the Catalog view does not extract definitions associated with portions of the map to allow displaying them independently. Users can only preview the entire map. The messages viewed on the Geography tab and the Table tab are expected and are intended to indicate that previewing the individual map components on the details panel is not supported. It is expected that to preview the data associated with the layers and tables, users must navigate to and select the appropriate dataset.
Browsing the contents of the map in the Catalog view is supported primarily to support viewing and editing full metadata for individual components of the map.
Workaround
Workaround for ArcGIS Pro 3.3 and 3.4 users to visualize the table attributes.
- Navigate to the 'Catalog pane'.
- Right-click the table.
- Click View Metadata.
- Select the table.
- Click the Table tab.
There are no current workarounds for the latest version of ArcGIS Pro i.e., 3.5.2, as the issue is reproducible both on the Catalog as well as through 'Contents pane'.
