When using the point selection in the Batch Attribute Editor widget to select an area for a small polygon feature, it returns multiple polygons instead of one.

Additional Information

The default selection tolerance is set to also support selecting single point features more easily. Decreasing the default tolerance only makes selecting single point features problematic again. A solution is to enhance the widget functionality with a new selection tolerance input setting in the widget settings. This allows users to change the selection tolerance based on their workflow. Unfortunately, this new functionality is not provided in the Batch Attribute Editor widget since ArcGIS Web AppBuilder is not making any enhancements and is moving the development efforts to ArcGIS Experience Builder. The new batch editing functionality planned for the Editor widget (JS SDK 4.x), and to be provided through ArcGIS Experience Builder, is a better workflow to cover this issue.

Workaround

  • Switch to the Edit or Smart Editor widgets when editing single small polygons, or select using the polygon drawing option in the Batch Attribute Editor widget.
  • Use the developer edition of ArcGIS Web AppBuilder to change the default selection tolerance for the Batch Attribute Editor widget. Deploy the developer edition or use as a custom widget in ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
