Workaround
Creat version using sdeversion command. It fails but adds a new record in the versions table and this new version is seen in the Version Manager in ArcCatalog.e.g.sde@GISTRA: sdeversion -o create -V "Version50" -P SDE.DEFAULT -u dwol_trans_sso -p iid123 -i esri_sdeArcSDE 9.1 Oracle10g Build 392 Thu Nov 2 15:42:12 PST 2006-----------------------------------------------------Error: Version not found (-126).Error: Unable to create version.SQL> select * from sde.versions where name='Version50';NAME----------------------------------------------------------------OWNER VERSION_ID STATUS STATE_ID-------------------------------- ---------- ---------- ----------DESCRIPTION-----------------------------------------------------------------PARENT_NAME----------------------------------------------------------------PARENT_OWNER PARENT_VERSION_ID CREATION_-------------------------------- ----------------- ---------Version50G_USER 8187 1 0
