Description

When using a SQL server user and role store as a security principal with ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 for Microsoft .NET, the options to use Google Earth, ArcGIS Explorer, and Export to KML are not available by way of the REST services directory.

Cause

When using a SQL server user and roles store to authenticate against services and applications for ArcGIS Server 9.3.1, the Token Service is used to authenticate users. However, the Google Earth, ArcGIS Explorer, and Export to KML features do not understand how to interact with the Token Service.

Workaround

Use a Windows user and role store rather than a SQL server user and role store if the options to view services in Google Earth or ArcGIS Explorer, or if the Export to KML feature is required.
