Bug

When users rename a service definition through Windows or ArcCatalog, then attempt to upload the service to ArcGIS Online, if the name of the original service definition already exists in the organization, a confusing error message appears.

Workaround

Steps -1. Extract files from the renamed service definition file to a new folder.2. Open serviceconfiguration.json in Notepad or Wordpad.3. Change serviceName to the name of the service definition, and save the file.4. Zip up all of the files within this folder and rename to the service definition name, then change the extension to sd.5. Upload this new .SD file to ArcGIS Online through the browser and the service name must match the service definition name.5a. If uploading using the Upload Service Definition geoprocessing tool in ArcGIS for Desktop, the layer and service definition in My Content still shows the original/incorrect name. However, the service URL shows the modified service name. The layer and service definition names can simply be changed in the item's details.
