When upgrading from ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 to 10.2 there is no option via the install graphical user interface (GUI) to change the Python installation path.

upgrade uses the same installdir as the previous installation - no option to change
Workaround
Uninstall 10.1 and do an installation of 10.2 rather than an upgrade. Use the silent install syntax:Msiexec /I <setup location>\setup.msi INSTALLDIR=<a href="file:C:/ArcGIS" target="_blank">C:\ArcGIS</a> ESRI_LICENSE_HOST=GIS SOFTWARE_CLASS=Editor SEAT_PREFERENCE=Float /qb
