Workaround
When registering a new database connection, ensure the name is listed under "ArcGIS_Data_Store" when ordered alphabetically. For example, name the registered database connection 'GISDATA'.
There is no workaround found for renaming existing portal-linked data store items.
For existing data stores registered via ArcGIS Server Manager or ArcMap, perform the following steps as a workaround:
- Navigate to ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory and click data > items > / enterpriseDatabases and select the registered database.
- Rename the registered database, ensuring it is listed below “ArcGIS_Data_Store" when names are ordered alphabetically. In this example, the database connection was renamed to "zAARDVARK".
- A second database connection with the new name is now be visible in ArcGIS Server.
- In ArcGIS Server Manager, click Site > Data Stores, and unregister the original database connection. Verify that existing services are not impacted.
