When sharing a web scene with an elevation layer from the host ArcGIS Enterprise portal as a reference in a distributed collaboration, the elevation layer asks for credentials when opening the web scene in the guest ArcGIS Enterprise portal.

Workaround
Edit the URL of the elevation layer in the guest ArcGIS Enterprise portal in the JSON of the web scene, or add the elevation layer in the guest ArcGIS Enterprise portal to a new web scene in the guest ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
