When searching for a feature class with a visibility range and adding it to the map using the 'Search for Layer’ option, the extent does not shift back to the feature.

This issue is not reproducible. The visibility range does not control where the map pans or zooms when an item is added. Instead, the item’s extent is used.

Workaround

Turn off the visibility range or pan to the feature.
