Additional Information
Service area polygons are an artistic representation of the area reachable within the cutoff limit, and the polygon output can vary significantly based on the user's settings. However, the service area trim distance is used only for buffering roads at the edges of the service area that are not surrounded by other reachable roads. It is not designed to influence interior parts of the reachable area. Areas that are fully surrounded by reachable roads are fully covered over, even if the area within is farther from the road than the trim distance.
Workaround
If the user wants a simple buffer that exactly matches the trim distance, generate Lines output from the service area and use the Buffer or Pairwise Buffer tool to buffer the service area lines output by the desired amount.
