Additional Information

This is expected behavior with default drive times; however, it is possible to create drive times that avoid ferries by customizing travel modes in an ArcGIS Online organization. The customized travel mode created in ArcGIS Online can then be used when generating drive times in an ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App. When creating the drive time in an ArcGIS Business Analyst Web App, go to More Options and select the custom travel mode from the Driving Mode dropdown. To create a custom travel mode, navigate to ArcGIS Online Organization Settings > Utility Services > Directions & Routing, and use one of the following options: Option 1: Edit the organization’s default Driving Time travel mode. - Enable the Avoid Ferries restriction attribute. - Set the dropdown to Prohibited. - When the analysis is run with the Driving Time travel mode, the ferry line is not included in the route. Option 2: Make a new travel mode. - Duplicate the Driving Time travel mode. - Rename the new travel mode to Driving Time Without Ferry. - Set the new travel mode’s Avoid Ferries restriction setting (same steps as Option 1). - When the analysis is run with this new travel mode, ferry lines are not included.
