When overwriting a hosted table created with a CSV or Excel file after adding new fields to the file and in ArcGIS Online, the new fields are not added or not showing as expected in the hosted table.

Workaround

Truncate the layer to maintain the new fields and then add the features into the table using Update Data (Add), or use Update Data (Update) to populate the attributes from the new file into the layer or table.
