When installing ArcEngine on a Vista Ultimate machine, an error message displays saying that the operation failed. Both the MSI and the EXE give the same error.

Workaround
ResolutionIf any VBscripts are embedded in the install then vbscript.dll needs to be registered OR IIS related issue then -- Workaround1 (If you are not using IIS, uninstall it):Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features Click on the link "Turn Windows Features on or off" Unmark "Internet Information Services" Press OK Reboot the machine if prompted Install EngineTurn on IIS by re-marking the "Internet Information Services" checkbox.(optional) Workaround2 (If you are using IIS, turn on IIS6 Compatibility): Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features Click on the link "Turn Windows Features on or off" Browse to Internet Information Services> Web Management Tools > IIS 6 Management Compatibility Mark IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility Reboot the machine if prompted Install Engine
