When FGDC CSDGM metadata is imported to an ArcGIS item or is upgraded for ArcGIS 10, for elements that are supported as a codelist in ArcGIS metadata, the original text is compared to well-known values exactly as-is. The original text should be normalized first to remove any leading or trailing white space.
