When creating a shapefile from a particular feature class it creates the shapefile, but ArcMap crashes when the shapefile is added back.

Create a feature class rather than a shapefile. Use a definition query or turn the fields off when creating the shapefile.This is a duplicate of NIM095013 which is resolved in 10.2.1.Steps to Reproduce
