Workaround

There is only one known workaround that does not require modification of the NAS appliance itself, but the success probability is inconsistent. Instead of utilizing Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths to access directories on a Dell EMC Isilon NAS with Server Message Block (SMB) 3.0 enabled, map those paths to letter drives and realize normal read or write performance.

If this does not resolve the problem, the only other known workaround as of 2022 is to disable SMB Multichannel on the Isilon appliance, as this performance behavior has been isolated to that capability being enabled.
