When cloning the ArcGIS Enterprise sites, the original site becomes unavailable because the cloned site is opened instead.

Use sharing/rest (sharing/rest /sharing/rest/content/users/<itemowner>/items/<itemID>/update) to modify the typeKeywords of the cloned item to not include the parent item, and change the second keyword to something different than <originalsite> - 1. This requires changing the site URL to correspond to the new typeKeyword.
