Additional Information

GEOGCRS 3D coordinate systems in ArcGIS are currently listed and recognized by the software, but they are not yet fully supported. Unfortunately, at this time, ArcGIS does not have any transformations available that can convert between 2D and 3D GEOGCRS. As a result, no transformation can be selected, and a transformation warning is issued. GEOGCRS 3D should only be used in conjunction with 3D datasets. An alternative for a 3D dataset is to utilize a 2D GEOGCRS paired with an ellipsoidal-based VERTCRS. For example, 'WGS 1984 3D (4979 – GEOGCRS 3D)' can be replaced with the pair 'WGS 1984 (4326 – GEOGCRS)' and 'WGS 1984 (115700 – ellipsoidal VERTCRS).' This pairing ensures compatibility and accurate representation of the data through the ArcGIS system. To assign the appropriate pair to the dataset, please use the Define Projection tool.
