Workaround
use the workaround shown in this kb doc:Bug: Inserted images and objects fail to draw on export or print<a href="http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=knowledgebase.techarticles.articleShow&d=30753" target="_blank">http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=knowledgebase.techarticles.articleShow&d=30753</a>orInsert > Object > browse to the excel table. This will retain the borders no matter what custom layout is used, or what position the table is in.
