Additional Information

GEOGCRS 3D coordinate systems in ArcGIS are listed and recognized by the software but are not fully supported. Unfortunately, at this time, ArcGIS does not currently provide transformations for converting between 2D and 3D GEOGCRS. As a result, no transformation can be selected, and a transformation warning is issued. GEOGCRS 3D should only be used with 3D datasets. An alternative for a 3D dataset is to utilize a 2D GEOGCRS paired with an ellipsoidal-based VERTCRS. For example, replacing 'WGS 1984 3D (4979 – GEOGCRS 3D)' with 'WGS 1984 (4326 – GEOGCRS)' and 'WGS 1984 (115700 – ellipsoidal VERTCRS)' provides a suitable alternative. This pairing ensures compatibility and accurate data representation within the ArcGIS system. Use the Define Projection tool to assign the appropriate pair to the dataset.
