When adding a private layer to a public map in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal from Map Viewer, a pop-up prompting user to update the sharing permissions of the private layer does not display after clicking Save.

Workaround

Use Map Viewer Classic as a workaround, as it works as expected and displays the pop-up prompting that the private feature layer needs its sharing settings updated before the map can be saved.
