laptop and a wrench

Bug

When a Python script tool or Python toolbox tool referencing a SDE file for a registered database is published or staged as a geoprocessing service, the service stages successfully only once, and any subsequent attempts to stage any Python script tool or Python toolbox tool results in failure. Subsequent attempts to stage a Python toolbox tool returns the failure message, "Failed to create Service Definition" accompanied by an error pop-up, "Error 001270: Consolidating Data Failed." Subsequent attempts to stage a Python script tool returns the error message, "Error 00068: Script <script name> contains broken project data source."

Additional Information

ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcGIS Engine and ArcObjects) is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. Mature support means the end of functionality-based patches and hotfixes; therefore, this issue will not be addressed. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. See Migrate from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro for more information. https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-pro/resources/migrate
