When a polyline hosted feature service using a Buffer effect is published from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online and is added as a URL to ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, the Buffer effect is not honored or respected.

Additional Information

By default, the request retrieves only the symbology at the top level of the service. To publish with advanced symbology, uncheck the 'Use symbol types compatible with all clients' check box and reference the layer’s portal item when adding it to the map.

Workaround

Set 'returnAdvancedSymbols: true' in the customParameters of the layer when adding it to the map.
