Validating small extents in a topology returns the message “Validate Topology Failed” A failure was detected inside the topology engine overlay processor. [Error ID: 109] / [Error ID: 167].

This defect was submitted for a release of ArcGIS that is no longer supported. If this is still an issue in a supported release please contact Technical Support.

Workaround

Validate a larger area than that which returns the 109 and 167 errors. There are exceptions where this workaround is not feasible however.
