Using the Clear Selection tool in the Table widget while enabling 'Extent changes' with the Message action in the Map widget breaks layer and table functionality.

Workaround

Filtering the data by extent in the Table widget is still possible by changing the mode to 'Interact with a Map widget'. Then, make sure 'Filter by map extent' is enabled and 'Enable by default' is checked. However, doing this does not allow users to select multiple rows.
