Additional Information

It is by design. This is a misunderstanding of the difference between viewing a map in screen space (for example, map view) and page space (from example, layout view). When comparing symbols sizes between map views and layout views, it is important to understand, when zooming in and out of a map view the scale of the map is changed. The window on the map, the computer screen and the number of pixels used to render symbols remains the same. When zooming in and out of a layout, it displays a closer or farther away look at the page. It is similar to tacking an actual printed layout on a wall and stepping closer (symbols get bigger) or farther away from the layout (symbols get smaller).

Workaround

  • Use a small size or medium size page resolves the issue.
  • Upon zooming the page size to 100% resolves the issue with the bigger page but the issue replicates at 10%, which is the default size of the page.
