This limitation is explicited documented in the next release.Workaround
This limitation in noted in the current Help documentation. At the top of the SQL reference page, it states,"This topic describes the elements of common queries used in selection expressions in ArcGIS. Query expression in ArcGIS follow the common SQL syntax."SQL syntax can only be used for querying, it cannot be used for calculating fields.Steps to Reproduce
