Unable to use Change Style using Continuous Timeline (Color), and Continuous Timeline (Size) in the map viewer for hosted feature layers that are hosted on Portal for ArcGIS because the date/time attribute disappears from the 'Choose an attribute to show' list.

Additional Information

These change style features utilize statistic queries which behave differently between Online and Portal. Change Style using Continuous Timeline (Color), and Continuous Timeline (Size) in Map viewer is supported in 10.5 but only when using feature collections. If the user can export the service to a shapefile and then add this shapefile to the map viewer using 'add layer from file' the change style feature will be available. Development are currently working on researching how to support hosted feature and map services. I have a submitted a documentation issue to update both the web and embedded portal help to explain that this change style feature is only supported when using feature collections.
