Additional Information

This issue is addressed in ArcGIS Bathymetry 10.8.1 Patch 4.

Workaround

  1. In the Catalog pane, right-click Bathymetry Data Index (BDI), and select Properties.
  2. In the Defaults tab for the BDI Properties, under Image Properties, view the Maximum Number of Rasters per Mosaic parameter. It is likely that the number is high, probably equal to the number of datasets in the BIS. Edit the value to a reasonable value, such as 20.
  3. Click Apply, and click Okay to exit the BDI Properties.

The Compose Surface preview image renders successfully when panning around in the Data View. The higher the value for the number of rasters per mosaic, the longer it takes to render the preview image, until it becomes impossible to render in the current software.
