Workaround

1. Open Windows Services and check that FLEXNet licensing Service is started, then attempt authorizing again.2. Run a Repair (may resolve issue).3. Upgrade to 10.0 SP1 (may resolve issue).4. Upgrade to 10.0 SP1 Patch (<a href="http://resources.arcgis.com/content/patches-and-service-packs?fa=viewPatch&PID=160&MetaID=1741" target="_blank">http://resources.arcgis.com/content/patches-and-service-packs?fa=viewPatch&PID=160&MetaID=1741</a>)5. Attempt the authorization again.6. Run as Administrator (with elevated privileges).7. If all else fails, uninstall all ArcGIS/Esri products, and remove every trace of Esri software from <a href="file:C:/Program" target="_blank">C:\Program</a> Files, <a href="file:C:/Program" target="_blank">C:\Program</a> Files (x86), <a href="file:C:/Program" target="_blank">C:\Program</a> Data\, <a href="file:C:/Program" target="_blank">C:\Program</a> Files\Common Files\, <a href="file:C:/Program" target="_blank">C:\Program</a> Files (x86)\Common Files\ as well as Registry keys: HKLM\Software\ESRI; then re-install ArcGIS Desktop and/or License Manager and attempt to re-authorize.
