Additional Information
The traffic map service is an Esri-owned service item, and its sharing setting cannot be changed. When a web map that includes the traffic map service is shared with the public, the underlying item (traffic map service) cannot be shared and still requires credentials to access. To make this work, create a proxy item for the traffic service and embed the credentials to access the service. Follow these steps:
1. Log in to ArcGIS Online.
2. Go to the Content page.
3. Click New item > URL, and provide the World Traffic Service URL: https://traffic.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/World/Traffic/MapServer
4. Toggle on 'Store credentials with service item', then click Next.
5. Enter the ArcGIS Online credentials.
6. Update the title, tags, summary and so forth, then click Save.
7. Share the item with everyone.
8. Copy the URL for the new item and use the URL to access the traffic map service.
9. Add the URL to a web map, save the map, and share it with everyone. The web map should display the traffic map without prompting for credentials.
10. When embedding this web map in an app, it won't prompt for credentials.
Workaround
Removing the layer allows the iPhone to open the map with the other layers.
